Gone are the days

I remember like light does dawn
How we used to smile at problems
We would laugh out loud
Dance our souls to forget all
Gone are those beautiful days
Family was the word most respected
Kids were the treasure of the society
A meal at a friend was like a meal home
A battle for one,a fight for us all
Gone are the beautiful days
Nights were ploughed by scary stories
About myths,about witches,ghetto glories
Mornings be greeted by "chobo-ngoto"
We loved football before we knew of Arsenal
Gone are the beautiful days
We'd never run out of games
Kalongolongo, brikicho* give 'em names
Scrap metal and used bottle were a side venture
How I miss the "mathamba" adventure
Gone are those beautiful days
In hollow poignancy I journey distant
To a place where fun is lost in selfie
Social media buried true friendship
Video games a craze, a crave for obesity
Discipline a kid to clash with their parents,
Present
Gone are the lively awesome days.
