TO MY MUM

Was it in the shrills of the cold night
That her arms fed love in me
Felt secure as my first I breathe
Life begotten,a journey to tread

The sleepless nights of my wails
From the pain of my ail
She prayed till dawn
Until salty tears aced her cheeks
Until her throat ran dry and hoarse

Should I talk of the whips
That my crooked ways straightened
Or the gentle lullabies to dreamland
But in morn blankets pulled off
Early rise to school
I would click and hate
Her light laughter watered
My dream as a nation builder

If words were used
Her wisdom to paint
Libraries would be overwhelmed
Ink imported from space
A lifetime would be spent
To document her selfless love

Many a memory now I'm grown
But I know for me she still prays
No matter how imma be lost
Never doubt, never quit,no love lost love
For his precious son
I LOVE YOU MUM.
